“On any missions trip, you will be pushed to your limits. In these hard times you must cry out to God for strength. God will show up. During the first part of the trip, I was fighting a sickness. That Sunday morning, we were assigned to assist with the children’s church. Their order of ceremony was very different, particularly the singing and dancing. I had never danced before and certainly not in church. Don’t worry, you catch on fast. Giving our presentation five times was exhausting, but working with the children seemed to make it all worth it. Each time, God gave me the strength to make it through to the next presentation. Any missions trip is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity for you touch others and be touched. You can’t pass it up.”

“One of my most fun parts of the trip was when we went to Otavalo and began working with the kids there. One little boy’s name was Mateo and he was so chubby and little – probably 2 or 3 years old with snot running out of his nose and the biggest grin on his face. My translator, Luis, and I were in charge of games and we were playing four corners that day. Mateo had gotten out in one round but somehow during the next round of counting when everyone was finding a corner, Mateo snuck back in the game and hid in the same corner he was in last time. Luis tried to ask him what he was doing but Mateo just giggled and we let him stay. After the person who was “it” called Mateo’s corner again and he was out, he wobbled/ran to the edge of the yard to sit with the other kids looking giddily dejected that his corner got picked again. His adorable joy at simply playing the game and learning things through playing kept a smile on my face the whole day. I can’t wait to go back and see him again!”
