At LAUNCH, we’ll teach you the foundational skills you need to launch into anything spanning from how to get hired and be good at your job, to what you need to know to start a business and launch a successful product.

Dean Showalter
Dean is a podcasting airplane mechanic who loves both planes and people.  He enjoys brainstorming creative ways to connect with fascinating people who may sometimes be considered inaccessible.
Aubry Matney

Aubry Matney has been studying how to communicate on the internet since 2012 and thinks about marketing and social media in a very community-focused way. She’s worked in social media and community building at Lumerit for 3 years now, and has built a personal brand (Minimal Millennials) with over 24,000 subscribers on YouTube and over 7,000 followers on Instagram in 10 months. Aubry is excited to share what she’s learned about the ever-evolving world of marketing and social media, and collaborate with you on your personal endeavors to make you successful!

Jim Smith

Jim Smith has two decades of experience in financial consulting –  specializing in both personal finance and small business management. Through his firm Performidable, he helps businesses profitably manage their finances and plan strategy. He serves in industries ranging from construction to private education to an IT startup aiming to revolutionize how government evaluates the cost effectiveness of its spending and policies.

Megan Weber

For years, Megan Weber has honed her skill of keeping a team organized, on track, and logistically sound. She’s created important logistics systems from the ground up, efficiently managed her and her department’s daily tasks, and built data analysis systems to track metrics – all while proactively communicating with her team and articulating the systems well for her interns. Megan can’t wait to share with you the valuable skills she’s learned over the years on how to organize, administer, and communicate in ways that will make you an invaluable member of your team.

Christian Matney

At 21, Christian has already developed systems to help refugees integrate into American culture well, worked for a Representative on Capitol Hill, and been one of the leading salespeople at Lumerit for two years during the fastest growing period at the company to date. He’s had a lot of practice figuring out how to communicate important and purposeful concepts to people who can benefit from them in a genuine, authentic way. He’ll be sharing what he’s learned about how to land sales while protecting the relationship he has with clients.

Jonathan Brush

Jonathan Brush has been studying, reading, thinking, writing, and speaking about how young adults and others can gain exceptional skill and launch better for almost twenty years. He has been a youth and young adult pastor, Director of Admissions for a selective private college, and is currently a conference and event speaker and the Executive Director of Student Life at Lumerit Education where he founded the Unbound Student Life experience. Jonathan can’t wait to share and teach what he has learned about leadership, critical skills, and what it takes to start ahead of everyone else and make a difference in whatever it is that you are called to do next!

Management & Team Dynamics

At this point, you probably don’t have too much practical work experience, but you really want to work on or lead exciting projects. Over the course of day 1, we’ll show you where to start, give you the foundational frameworks to build on, and help you identify your natural gifts.

Regardless of the plans you have for your LAUNCH, you will either work for a manager or become one — or both. This opportunity requires you to build your capacity for leadership. Jonathan will give his insights to becoming a leader in the workplace and a view into business from the management perspective so you’ll know how to grow in any professional situation.

It’s common to hear the buzz words “Logistics & Marketing” when it comes to project execution, but it’s not always common to  hear the real-life relationship between the two departments.  At this panel, you’ll get a chance to ask Aubry & Megan how their relationship functionally works and learn which side your skills match the best.

Operations & Marketing

You know you need to get other people excited about an idea for it to actually work, but you don’t know where to start. You also know you need to be someone who can accomplish an idea.  We’ll teach you how to set vision, communicate an idea, tell your story on social media, get started with your idea, and track it’s progress.

You have a goal – a really, really good goal – but at this point, no one else cares about it. How do you get other people passionate about your idea or goal or product enough to act? In this session, we’ll talk through which fundamental communication shifts you need to make that will get customers to buy, your boss to give you the green light, and employees to follow your lead.

As someone who knows the challenges of launching a new project, Dean is going to share his approach to overcoming obstacles in the midst of launching his Airplane Owner Maintenance podcast. After this session, you’ll be empowered to overcome the obstacles of your LAUNCH through persistence and perseverance!

What can I expect?

When you come to the LAUNCH Conference, you’ll be surrounded by a group of fellow students who are passionate about moving forward in life.  At a cabin nestled in the Smoky Mountains, you’ll get the casual feel of a retreat with top-notch content.  From personally interacting with the speakers to bonding with students over cooking meals, LAUNCH will help you focus and move forward by equipping you with necessary skills and tools to be effective in business.

There will be a conglomeration of all-group sessions from experts, interactive times with the speakers, and group tasks.  The format is designed to help you learn and practice the information!
There are only 30 spots for attendees so it will be a conference with a small group feel.  The calm cabin atmosphere will foster a small group bond with conference-level information.
BOTH!  There will be a mixture of information focused on a specific category, but all the topics will be applicable and beneficial to both groups.
No.  While your business courses may help you understand the content more, we’re bringing experts in the fields to specifically give you that practical application required for real world experience.
Yes!  Aside from your travel and a potential airport shuttle fee, the registration price covers everything you’ll need at the conference from start to finish.
